There are many ways to get involved with this exciting, innovative project.

  • Financially support the project.

Implementing a three-year holistic project requires many resources.  With the support of our friends, we have already secured funding to launch the project, but we need to continue to raise funds in order to carry out all activities in the three-year plan.  Please consider joining this project as a partner by raising funds to sponsor one or more project components.  We invite individuals, churches and other faith-based institutions, academic institutions, civic organizations, businesses as well as governmental and nongovernmental entities to collaborate.

  • Volunteer in the community.

For our friends who live abroad:

Organize a team through Habitat for Humanity International’s Global Village program.  Although we are building the first 30 houses during the 2010 Lent Build, we will be hosting teams year-round so that our partners can get involved in a hands-on way with the other project components.  On a typical one-week trip, you will spend the first weekend exploring the capital city and learning about the country’s history.  From Monday through Friday, you will stay in a modest but comfortable hotel and will spend each day in the Getsemaní community.  During your second weekend in El Salvador, you can choose from a wide selection of tourist activities, including the beach and the mountains. For more information, please send an email to PCordero@habitatelsalvador.org.sv.

If you are unable to organize an entire team, please consider signing up for one of the four annual Myers Park Presbyterian Church teams.  MPPC welcomes non-church members to their teams.

For our friends in El Salvador:

Spend a day or a week in the community assisting one of the many ongoing programs.  We will work with you to match your talents and interests with the project needs and can furthermore help you to coordinate logistics.  Community service is an excellent way for friends, family, students and coworkers to bond.  Participating in this project is also a wonderful way for church members to put their faith into action.

  • Spread the word.

If you support this holistic, sustainable community development model, then please help us seek additional partners by spreading the word about this project.
