On Tuesday, November 16th, Getsemaní community members had the opportunity to share a very special experience with their friends from Villa Esperanza. It was the official dedication of the new Villa Esperanza community!
Villa Esperanza is a 75-family holistic project built by Habitat El Salvador and sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The project includes land, housing, physical infrastructure, and community development components. The community development component included opportunities for the new Board of Directors to meet and share experiences with the Getsemaní leadership to promote mutual learning. Members of both communities have had the chance to meet in trainings and other activities. It was thus very meaningful to have the ten-person delegation from Getsemaní present at the dedication, which celebrated the finalization of the construction of Villa Esperanza. In the future, the two communities will continue to meet, share experiences, and learn from each other.
